when the journey is hard.

A place of hope in the midst of uncertainty. A guest home for families coming to Houston for medical care.

The guest home, a white two story house with a deep wraparound porch, white columns, a second floor balcony and a red front door, set behind a wide green lawn

Comfort during your
most difficult days

“I was a stranger and ye took me in.” Matthew 25:35

Houston Mennonite Guest Home is a nonprofit operated by the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The home is operated by volunteers and your donations are very much appreciated.

Treatment in Houston often runs for weeks, and a hotel near the medical center adds a second burden on top of the first. Here you get a real bed, a kitchen you may cook in, laundry, and a porch to sit on when the day is finished.

Innkeepers live here while you stay. They keep the coffee on, they will listen if you want to talk, and they will let you be if you do not.

Questions families ask

Who may stay here?

Patients and their immediate families who are in Houston for medical care. We host short-term stays only.

How long may we stay?

Up to two weeks, so that a room stays open for the next family who needs it.

What does it cost?

The suggested donation is $50 a night. No one is ever turned away for inability to pay.

May we bring a pet?

No pets, including service animals. We hold to this for the comfort and safety of every guest in the house.

What are the house rules?

No alcohol, tobacco, smoking, vaping, drugs, or weapons of any kind, including concealed firearms. Outside doors are locked at 10:00 PM.

How is this different from a hotel?

It is a home, not a business. Volunteers keep it, donations pay for it, and the people who meet you at the door live here while you stay.
